The Not Much Up-Date

Soooo, I suck.  We've covered this before.  I have realized in the last few weeks that I want to post stuff on my blog but it was starting to bother me that everything I posted here would show up on my personal Facebook page.  It didn't used to bother me for some reason, but now it does.  I guess I just need to feel like when I bare my soul to the world it is mostly heard by people just like me.  People who understand and don't just judge.  I blog for the women who comment on my posts and say "I could have written that!" or "I feel that same way".  I tell my sad, sad stories about what I found under my couch (crayons, socks, unidentifiable crumbs) or how long it's been since I changed my kids sheets (months!) and people say "Me too!" or just don't say anything at all (thanks for that too :D )

I'll lose some readers, and they can always still find me, but it won't be so easy for some distant acquaintance (whom I only friended because we have 29847 friends in common even though we've hardly spoken) to read all about how much dirty laundry I have on my bathroom floor.  I believe that I've changed the setting correctly so that no longer happens, and now hopefully I'll feel more in the blogging spirit!

Whew, with that out of the way I can move on to my "not much update"!

I didn't do dishes for 4 days.  Then I did, but they were so behind that I had to hand wash some and now I have a buttload of dishes to put away and haven't.  They're all over my counter just like when they were dirty.

I didn't do laundry for 6 days.  I started a load and then my washing machine stopped working.  And we had NO clean clothes... because I hadn't done laundry in 6 days.  I panicked and unplugged it, then plugged it back in.  Thank goodness that worked, but every few loads it stops in the middle of a cycle and I have to unplug and replug.  Pain in the butt, but better than buying a new washing maching.

I put up Halloween decorations.  BEFORE Halloween.  And they looked awesome.  But now I have to take them down and that's not so awesome.

Oh!  And my friend Mrs. Awesome helped me cook a bunch of ground beef to make freezer meals with because she rocks!  But I don't really have any other ingredients to make meals so it's slim pickings tonight.

I've been horrible on the craft front, but realistic about how many "hand made" Christmas gifts I'll actually get done in time (none).  I usually spend so much on all the supplies for a gift that I can just buy something cheaper and save myself the stress of not getting it done and shopping last minute.

So, that's what's up.  I suck, and I'm okay with it I guess.  After over 18 months writing this blog I think I've possibly gotten WORSE than I was before... which isn't good, but what can you do!?

Doughnut Pass Go

Uggg, slacking again.  In my defense I've been editing photos during every spare second I've had since Saturday.  My dishes are done but my laundry is piling up.  I thought over my life plan with some doughnuts.   After some pondering I realized that all I had figured out was that I wanted a second doughnut.  So I ate it :D  And now I have NO plan for today even though I have a million things to do... How's your week going??

Another One Ignores The Dust

I woke up this morning, got the laundry going, and made my bed. I came upstairs, made breakfast, rinsed the dishes, started cleaning the counters, and cuddled my babies. I got out my chore box, made a new list of the stuff that needs to get done and washed the table.

I'm not sure what happened after that since I must have blacked out, but 5 hours later I'm sitting on my couch with an empty Pringles can watching TV in my jammies.

Shiznit. Better luck tomorrow I guess!

Decisions

I'm tired. And cranky. And I just want to take a nap and sleep the whole day away. Unfortunately I STILL haven't gotten off my butt and organized the play room, or done anything in the living room (my Thursday room!). I did work on the play room for a little bit yesterday, but nothing too productive. Now I'm faced with a hard choice... admit defeat again and take a nap, or get up, clean something, and move on. I'm still undecided... maybe pajama pants would help!?

Whine & Dine (A Whiny Post)

I'm down with a case of can't get my life together syndrome. Obviously I was never good at getting it together, but the last few weeks have been pretty interesting. I can clearly see what needs to be done, and I can even take the first step to get things picked up and put away, but then I just stall out.

Earlier this week I cleaned the living room. I tipped up the couches, vacuumed everything, organized what stays in the living room and put everything that doesn't belong in a laundry basket to be sorted and put away. Those 2 laundry baskets are still sitting in my dining room. If I just sorted them it would take maybe 10 minutes, but my brain can't focus on that since I feel like I could do 10 minute jobs for the rest of my life and still not get it all done.

As a "good mom" I'm supposed to remember that my kids won't remember whether there were laundry baskets in my dining room for 2 weeks and do something fun with them instead. As a good time manager I'm supposed to schedule a time when I do my cleaning and organizing that still allows for family time. Unfortunately I tried that (remember the living room cleaning!) and didn't even get one room done. As a good housekeeper I'm supposed to be Spring Cleaning using one of those never ending lists that include taking pillows outside to air out and wiping heating registers. I'll get right one that...

With my 1 year blogiversary coming up on Wednesday it's become more clear than ever that not only am I no better at life than I was a year ago, but looking at my dining room it's almost worse. I don't want to be super mom, and I'm fine with never airing my pillows or wiping the heat registers, but keeping up on the dishes and laundry still seems like a fantasy.

I wanted to do a giveaway for my blogiversary, but fittingly I didn't get my crap together in time... there's always next year!

Internet Junkie

At 11:45 pm on Saturday night I realized I was an internet junkie. My family had gone to bed long before, and I was hanging out by myself, in the dark, on a Saturday night. I wasn't really alone though, I had the world wide web at my fingertips. Unfortunately I was jumping back and forth between 4-5 sites to check for new updates... not exactly my idea of productive. I thought about how many times I had checked my e-mail Saturday alone, and it had to be over 20! Is that really necessary? Do I really need to constantly check for new junk mail? I had a problem.

I decided that Sunday needed to be an entirely computer free day. I panicked that I didn't update my Facebook status or anything to alert people used to getting an almost instant response from me that I'd be offline. I stayed strong and went to bed. I woke up on Sunday morning at 7am. My first instinct was to grab the laptop and get caught up, but I prevailed. I must have gone to grab the computer over 10 times over the day but each time I reminded myself of the other things I could be doing. I'm not going to pretend that it changed my life, but I got more cuddles, more dishes done, more snacks eaten (YES!), had dinner in the crockpot by noon, and even fit in a nap!

To my surprise when I logged on this morning the internet world had not collapsed with my absence. Facebook didn't shut down, my e-mails were all patiently waiting for me, and no celebrity gossip had gone down that I didn't know about. I did miss printing out Sweetie Pie's new lunch calendar so I had to wait until this morning to plan the week's lunches, but if that's the worst that happened then I guess this 'less internet' business isn't all that bad.

Why You Should Clean Out Your Bathroom Drawers Today

Today is the day. The day that you should clean out that drawer in your bathroom with all the "stuff" in it. I'm sure organized people with non-retarded builders have multiple drawers for all sorts of little things and keep them somewhat separated and purged. Not me. I have two big-momma drawers. One keeps curlers, curling irons, hair clippers and the hair dryer. The other keeps everything else you could possibly need in a bathroom.

I'm not going to pretend that it was every organized, but even if it had been it wouldn't have stayed that way long since it's at the perfect height for my 2,4, & 6 year olds to dig for treasures. When I need to find anything I just move stuff around until I finally spot the tiny nail clippers or earring back that I was looking for... 5 minutes later of course. The drawer was messy but it never really bothered me enough to do something about it. Until this morning.

So why should you go clean out your bathroom drawer NOW?
Because maybe you forgot to brush your daughter's hair before bed.
So maybe her hair has now has rodents living in the giant knot.
And maybe it really needs to be brushed.
And because maybe you'll be running late for school because maybe it's a day when school starts 90 minutes early.
And maybe you'll shove your hand into the drawer to feel around for a brush and not look because your two year old happens to be putting things in the toilet and your four year old is recreating the Mommy, Mom, Mama, Mom? scene from Family Guy.
And then maybe your hand will be instantly coated with mystery slime along with EVERY tiny earring, hair clip, elastic and comb that was in the giant drawer of crap.
And maybe since the drawer was so messy before you didn't notice that someone put an entire bottle of ass strawberry scented Princess body wash in the drawer.
Open.
Upside-down.
All night.
And maybe your daughter got to school 10 minutes late.
With un-brushed hair.
And no hair clips or ties.
And then you got to spend over an hour wiping down every.single.thing that was in that drawer.
Because you never cleaned it out.

So that's why you should clean out your bathroom drawer today. Like NOW. Before this maybe happens to you.

Up-box

You know how organizers always say to use areas and baskets to 'set limits' for the stuff you can keep? Unfortunately they also taught me that when you can't go out, go UP! My 'in-box' is filled with papers from school, bills, drawings, things I need to do, etc. The only problem is that I never even touch the pile because as you can see it could topple down at ANY moment. I hope nothing in there was too important. My mission, if I chose to get off my booty and accept it, is to clear out this in-box so that I only have the most urgent papers in there. I sure does a great job of hiding my dusty chore box though!!

Too Tired To Blog

I have a great blog post that I've been meaning to type up all day since I scribbled it on a torn notebook at 5 o'clock this morning by the light of the moon. Except I'm me, and I been up since 4:30 am after sleeping a whole 4 hours, so that will have to wait. Maybe tomorrow when I decide to be a normal human and not a growling mama bear that got woken from her Winter sleep I'll be ready to type it up. On the other hand it is already written out and Sweetie Pie loves to type letters on the computer... no, that's too lazy... right!?

Day 46- Screaming Like A Girl

My kids won't stop chasing each other around with very LOUD pretend hand mixers.
The dog won't stop barking.
The washer is off balance and being really loud.
The baby is crying.
The phone won't stop ringing.
If I hear one more MOMMY!! I'm going to scream louder than the baby.
The oven timer is beeping.
The dishwasher is washing.
My cell phone is dying and crying out for a charge every 2 seconds.
I ate part of the birthday cake.
There's snot on my pants.
I just got hit with a corndog.
I'm having the worst hair day of my life.
I have 10 loads of laundry to fold.
Boo peed on the couch during the two minutes that it took me to find a new diaper.
I still have a million things to do for the party.
Mr. Wright was home for 10 minutes before he left again, and I'm jealous.
I need a shower.

It's only an hour until bedtime... you think I'll make it??

Day 20- Totally Off The Wagon

I'm finding this blog is a lot harder to write when I don't really have any accomplishments to write about. The current state of my kitchen is too darn close to a "How Clean Is Your House" kitchen and I'm seeing dishes that I don't even recognize. I did empty the sink yesterday but didn't empty the dishwasher once I ran it, so I'm back to square one. I've been doing a craft project that has consumed every second of my free time and every inch of my dining room table. The kids ate their macaroni chili lunch at the counter because there was no room at the table where they normally eat.

They got macaroni chili because I only had one box of macaroni and one can of "jalapeño hot" chili, so I turned it into lunch. I even added a granola bar for extra fun. I'm not sure how Boo's digestive system feels about jalapeño hot chili, but since I cloth diaper I have a horrible feeling that I'm soon finding out. If anyone knows how to sanitize a washing machine I'm taking ideas ;)

I'm short on time today so I'll just give the basic rundown...

Showering? Yes, I just got one in at 4pm
Laundry? Mr. Wright decided it was time for me to finally wash some things, so I did one load and stopped.
Dishes? No, thank you
Good wife? I washed his clothes! What more could he want!?
Good mom? We got out a few games that have been hidden (lost) since Christmas and they've been keeping busy since then. They also played outside today and I realized that I hate the smell of dirt on kids. Darn fresh air!

Poppin' The Blog Cherry

I wish I had something exciting to blog about, but that is kind of the point of this. My life sucks. It sucks because I let it suck. I have wonderful kids, a great husband and everything should be peachy. The problem is that I haven't done dishes in two days, I hate to leave my house, and my pajamas have become my everyday wear. I've been battling for years to 'get in a groove' but I feel like lately I'm more lost then ever. This blog will hopefully help along the path to where I want to be- the person that I envisioned myself on my wedding day. I don't need to be Super Mom, but Dressed Mom or Actually Made Dinner Mom would be nice :)
